The four skin types
Skin type mostly comes down to how much oil your skin makes and where. These are the four types the quiz sorts into.
- Normal skin
- Your skin is balanced: not tight, not shiny. A gentle cleanser, a moisturizer and daily sunscreen keep it that way.
- Combination skin
- Your T-zone runs oily while your cheeks are normal or dry. Many people use a lighter product on the T-zone and a richer one on the cheeks.
- Dry skin
- Your skin makes less oil and can feel tight or flaky. Creamy cleansers and richer moisturizers are the usual choice.
- Oily skin
- Your skin makes more oil, so it looks shiny and pores are more visible. Lightweight, oil-free products and a gentle foaming cleanser usually suit it.

How do I know my skin type?
Wash your face, apply nothing, and check how it feels after a few hours. Tight and flaky, shiny all over, shiny only in the T-zone, or comfortable each point to a different type.
Is sensitive skin a skin type?
Sensitivity can come with any skin type, so the quiz asks about it separately. It does not change your result.
Can my skin type change?
Skin can feel different with the seasons, climate and age. Take the quiz again when your skin starts to behave differently.
